What We Believe

Statement of Faith

Trinity City Church stands firmly on the authority of Scripture and the historic doctrines of the Christian faith. Our beliefs define who we are, what we teach, and how we live in obedience to the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

  1. The Bible

The 66 books of the Bible are the inspired, infallible, and authoritative Word of God — verbally and plenarily inspired as originally given.

    2 Timothy 3:16–17; 2 Peter 1:20–21; Psalm 19:7–11; Hebrews 4:12

  2. The Triune God

One eternal God, existing in three persons — Father, Son, and Holy Spirit — coequal and coeternal in power, glory, and essence.

    Deuteronomy 6:4; Matthew 28:19; 2 Corinthians 13:14; Genesis 1:26

  3. The Deity and Work of Jesus Christ

Christ’s full deity and humanity, virgin birth, sinless life, miracles, atoning death, bodily resurrection, ascension, and personal return.

    John 1:1–14; Luke 1:30–35; Hebrews 4:15; 1 Corinthians 15:3–4; Acts 1:9–11; Revelation 19:11–16

  4. Salvation and Regeneration

All have sinned and are in need of regeneration by the Holy Spirit, which is essential for salvation. Salvation is by grace through faith in Jesus Christ alone.

    John 3:3–7; Titus 3:5–7; Romans 3:23; Ephesians 2:8–9; 2 Corinthians 5:17

  5. The Ministry and Gifts of the Holy Spirit

The present ministry of the Holy Spirit indwelling believers, plus baptism and gifts for service and the Great Commission.

    Acts 1:8; Acts 2:1–4; 1 Corinthians 12:4–11; Galatians 5:22–25; Romans 8:11

  6. Resurrection and Eternal Judgment

Resurrection of both the saved and the lost — those who are saved to eternal life, and those who are lost to eternal separation from God.

    John 5:28–29; Daniel 12:2; Revelation 20:11–15; 1 Thessalonians 4:16–17

  7. The Unity of Believers

Spiritual unity of all believers in our Lord Jesus Christ, joined together as one body by faith through the Holy Spirit.

    John 17:20–23; 1 Corinthians 12:12–14; Ephesians 4:3–6; Colossians 3:14–15

  8. The Fall and Redemption of Humanity

Creation, test, and fall resulting in total depravity and inability to attain righteousness apart from God’s grace.

    Genesis 1:26–31; Genesis 3:1–7; Romans 3:10–12; Romans 5:12–19

  9. Marriage and Sexuality

Marriage is a sacred covenant established by God between one biologically born male and one biologically born female. Sexual intimacy is a gift from God, to be expressed only within the covenant of biblical marriage.

    Genesis 2:24; Matthew 19:4–6; Ephesians 5:31–33; 1 Corinthians 6:9–20; Hebrews 13:4

  10. The Person and Work of Christ

Jesus Christ is both fully God and fully man, conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, crucified for our sins, buried, and raised on the third day according to the Scriptures.

    Luke 1:26–35; John 1:14; 1 Corinthians 15:3–8; Acts 1:9–11; Philippians 2:5–11

  11. Baptism

Water baptism by immersion, as commanded by Jesus Christ, as an outward sign of inward faith — symbolizing the believer’s identification with the death, burial, and resurrection of Christ.

    Matthew 28:19–20; Romans 6:3–5; Acts 2:38; Colossians 2:12

  12. Communion (The Lord’s Supper)

Communion — the Table of the Lord — is reserved for believers in Jesus Christ as a memorial of His death and a proclamation of His return.

    Luke 22:19–20; 1 Corinthians 11:23–26; Matthew 26:26–28

  13. Satan and Eternal Judgment

The reality and personality of Satan as a fallen angel opposing God, with certain ultimate defeat and eternal judgment in the lake of fire.

    Isaiah 14:12–15; Ezekiel 28:13–17; Matthew 25:41; Revelation 12:9–10; Revelation 20:10

  14. The Mission of the Church

The Church is the Body of Christ, called to preach the Gospel, make disciples, and fulfill the Great Commission in the power of the Holy Spirit until Christ’s return.

    Matthew 28:18–20; Acts 1:8; Ephesians 4:11–13; 2 Corinthians 5:18–20
